Today, spend the day away from the hustle and bustle of Saigon by driving to Ben Tre Province. En route, stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, an ancient southern architectural gem in Tien Giang. When you arrive at Hung Vuong Pier, board your private boat for a view of the delta scenery while sipping coconut juice. Visit fruit orchards, coconut groves, brick workshops, and home-made products such as coconut candies, rice cakes, and handicrafts to learn about the Mekong Delta’s unique way of life. After a short walk to a local family to learn how to make sedge mats and enjoy tea and tropical fruits, take a “Xe Loi,” a type of motorized rickshaw, or hop on your bicycle and pedal through picturesque villages (about 20 minutes). Stop for a delicious and filling lunch at a riverside restaurant. Then board a sampan for a leisurely trip through narrow canals. In the village, stay at a homestay.
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Homestay
You are free to ride a bicycle around the village after breakfast to visit the morning local market or the rice paper cake workshop. Check it out. Dong Tam is the cultivation of medicinal plants as well as the study and treatment of snake bites. There is a snake breeding zone with 400 different species to feed or even play with. There is also a collection of fish, crocodiles, turtles, and other animals. Then return to Saigon by car.
