Detailed Itinerary:

Here is how the five days unfold, from an early flight to Sukhothai to a muddy, happy morning with the elephants near Chiang Mai. Every part of it can be adjusted: add a night where you want to linger, swap an activity or change your hotel class, and we will shape the plan around you.

Day 01:Bangkok – Fly to Sukhothai – Historical Park – Lampang

Fly north to Sukhothai, the first capital of Siam, whose ruins are among the most beautiful in Thailand.

Early morning

Your driver collects you from your hotel in Bangkok for the airport and your early flight to Sukhothai.

Morning

Your guide meets you on arrival for the drive to Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend most of the day among its temples, where serene Buddha images sit among lotus ponds and old brick chedis. The park is flat and best explored by bicycle, so if you have the energy, hop on a bike and pedal from ruin to ruin.

Afternoon

Continue by road with your guide and driver to Lampang, an easy-going town in the north, and check in to your hotel to relax.

Accommodation: Hotel in Lampang.

Day 02:Lampang – Chiang Rai – White Temple

From one of the finest Lanna temples to Chiang Rai and its extraordinary White Temple.

Morning

Drive out of town to Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a walled temple complex that is one of the best-preserved examples of Lanna architecture in Thailand, with carved wooden halls and a great golden chedi.

Afternoon

Continue north to Chiang Rai and check in to your hotel for a break.

Late afternoon

Time allowing, visit Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple, a dazzling modern temple of white plaster and mirrored glass designed by a Thai artist, then browse a local market.

Meals: Breakfast. Accommodation: Hotel in Chiang Rai.

Day 03:Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle

A day at the very top of Thailand, where three countries meet on the Mekong.

Morning

Drive to Mae Sai, the northernmost point of Thailand, and soak up the busy atmosphere of the border town, where traders and travellers come and go across the bridge to Myanmar.

Afternoon

Continue to the Golden Triangle, where the Ruak River flows into the Mekong and the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. Visit the Hall of Opium, a fascinating museum on the history of the opium trade in the region, then take a boat trip on the mighty Mekong.

Explore the ancient walled city of Chiang Saen and Wat Chedi Luang, then return to Chiang Rai by sunset.
