Begin at Taman Sari Waterfall, a hidden gem where the water tumbles gently over two tiers. Continue to Tibumana, a graceful curtain of water that flows all year round, and to Kanto Lampo, where the falls spill over stepped rocks deep in the green jungle, a favourite spot for photographs.

End at Layana Waterfall, where lunch is served at a local warung with the sound of falling water close by.

Return to your resort for an afternoon at leisure.

Drive east towards the coast, passing the quiet shoreline of Candidasa, to Lempuyang Temple, one of the oldest and most revered temples on the island. Its split gate, often called the Gates of Heaven, frames the cone of Mount Agung on a clear day.

Wander the gardens of Tirta Gangga, a former royal water palace of pools, fountains and stepping stones set among the hills, and stop for lunch.

Continue to Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, a vast complex of shrines climbing the slopes of Mount Agung. On the way back to Ubud, stop at Penglipuran, a traditional village of neat stone paths and identical family compounds, where daily life follows customs handed down for centuries.

Your private driver takes you south to Nusa Dua, leaving the bustle of the island behind.

Settle into Merusaka Nusa Dua, where the calm water of Mengiat Beach laps against soft white sand, and spend the rest of the day by the sea.

Take a fast boat from Sanur Harbour across the strait to Nusa Penida.

Your first stop is the Paluang Cliff and Kelingking, where a headland shaped like the head of a Tyrannosaurus rex plunges towards a secluded cove of soft white sand, one of the most photographed views in Indonesia. Continue to Angel’s Billabong, a natural infinity pool carved into the rocks above the ocean, with views towards Manta Point.

After lunch, slip into the water to snorkel at Wall Bay, Crystal Bay and GT Point, where coral reefs teem with tropical fish, before the boat ride back to Bali.

Spend the day as you please: float in your private pool, stretch out on the resort’s beach or swim in the calm, sheltered water, gentle enough for even the most relaxed swimmer. When hunger strikes, the resort’s restaurants are only a few steps away.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangkok.

Your local guide meets you on arrival and accompanies you to your hotel, Hotel Muse Bangkok. The rest of the day is at leisure to settle in and take a first look at the city, where centuries-old temples and historic landmarks stand alongside modern malls and smart boutiques.

Rise early for Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s oldest temples and home to the great Reclining Buddha, where you can listen to the monks at their morning chanting.

Continue to the Grand Palace, a dazzling complex of gilded spires and mosaics, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha within its walls, home to the most revered Buddha image in Thailand.

As the day fades, your guide takes you up to an exclusive rooftop bar to watch the sun set over the city, followed by a romantic dinner.

Drive out of the city to the railway market at Maeklong, where vendors lay out fruit, fish and vegetables just inches from the tracks and fold back their awnings in seconds as the train rumbles through. Continue to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and glide by boat along the canals, past wooden boats piled with tropical fruit, noodles and flowers.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then return to your hotel to rest.

Climb into a tuk-tuk for a lively ride through Bangkok’s streets, stopping to taste local dishes at favourite stalls and to see a few of the city’s landmarks lit up at night.

Transfer to the airport for your flight across the Gulf of Thailand to Koh Samui.

Settle into SALA Samui Choengmon Beach Resort on the quieter end of Choeng Mon Beach, with wide sea views. Your room is decorated with flowers and set up with a honeymoon treat, and later the two of you unwind together with a couple’s massage.

Head out by boat to Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago of more than 40 islands spread across the Gulf. Cruise between limestone islets draped in jungle, then choose how to spend your time: snorkel in clear water, paddle a kayak along the cliffs, swim in the warm sea or hike up to a viewpoint over the islands.

Lunch is served on Koh Phaluai, the largest island in the archipelago, with a traditional Thai menu.

Enjoy more time on the water before cruising back to Koh Samui.

Spend the day at your own pace, by the pool, on the beach or simply on your terrace with the sea in view.

As the sun goes down, a private tent is set up for the two of you on Choeng Mon Beach for a romantic dinner by candlelight, with only the sound of the waves for company.

Enjoy the comforts of your resort, or set out to discover Koh Samui on your own. Na Muang Waterfall tumbles down a cliff of purple rock in the island’s interior, and nearby Wat Phra Yai, the Big Buddha Temple, crowns a little island with its great golden Buddha. In the evening, the island’s restaurants offer everything from beach barbecues to refined dining.

Enjoy a last breakfast and a final swim at leisure.
