Tour Destinations:

Detailed Itinerary:

A classic northern loop by road, starting and ending in Chiang Mai, with a night in Pai and two in Mae Hong Son. The roads wind through the mountains, so the days are long but full of stops. Every part of it can be adjusted: add a night, swap a visit or change the hotel class, and we will shape the plan around you.

Day 01:Chiang Mai - Pai

North into the mountains, with hot springs on the way and sunset in Pai.

Morning

Your guide collects you from your hotel in Chiang Mai and you set off north towards Pai. Stop at the market of Mae Malai to try local food and some exotic fruits, then continue to Pong Duet, one of the most beautiful hot springs in Chiang Mai province, set in a wooded valley park. Below the bubbling springs, the rock forms shallow pools where you can take a warm swim.

Midday

On the way, stop at the Pai Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Pai River and dates back to the Second World War. Lunch is at a restaurant before you reach Pai.

Afternoon

Pai is a small town in a beautiful hilly setting, where people of the plains and hill tribes, with their own beliefs and languages, have mixed to create a relaxed, shared culture. Weather permitting, watch the sunset from Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan, with its wide valley views.

Evening

Dinner is yours to choose, and you can wander the stalls of Pai’s walking street market.

Good to know: This tour begins with a pick-up from your own hotel in Chiang Mai, which is not included. Bring swimwear for the hot springs.

Meals: Lunch. Accommodation: Hotel in Pai.

Day 02:Pai - Ban Jabo - Tham Lod - Mae Hong Son

Hill-tribe villages and a raft through ancient caves on the road to Mae Hong Son.

Morning

After breakfast, visit the local market, then head for Mae Hong Son. Stop at Ban Jabo, a Black Lahu village, where you may see people in traditional dress playing wooden instruments.

Midday

Continue to Ban Tham Lod and explore Tham Lod Cave by bamboo raft along the underground river. The cave system is made up of three caverns, Column Cave, Doll Cave and Coffin Cave, filled with limestone formations and ancient wooden coffins. Lunch is served along the way.

Afternoon

Arrive in Mae Hong Son and visit three temples. By Jong Kham Lake, the heart of town, stand Wat Chong Kham, the older of the pair, with its large seated Buddha in Burmese style, and Wat Chong Klang, whose Burmese-style chedi is reflected in the water.

Late afternoon

Finish at Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, the hilltop temple that watches over the city, for the view as the light fades.

Good to know: From November to February the valleys around Doi Kong Mu often fill with mist, making the view especially beautiful.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch. Accommodation: Hotel in Mae Hong Son.

Day 03:Mae Hong Son - Pai River - Ban Rak Thai - Ban Ruam Thai

A day on the river and in the border villages around Mae Hong Son.

Midday

Lunch is at a local restaurant. Then cross the Su Tong Pae Bridge, the longest bamboo bridge in Thailand, laid across the rice fields.

Afternoon

Drive to Ban Rak Thai, a village on the border with Myanmar beside a large lake. Then visit Ban Ruam Thai, the Shan village also known as Pang Oung, set among rugged mountains. Its lake, ringed by pine forest, is so pretty that it is sometimes called the Switzerland of Thailand.
