Detailed Itinerary:

Two days in Guangzhou introduce the history of southern China before you drive northeast to Meizhou, the heartland of Hakka culture, for two nights. The journey ends in Shenzhen, where Hakka villages sit side by side with one of China’s most modern cities. Every part of it can be adjusted: add a night, swap a visit or change the hotel class, and we will shape the plan around you.

Day 01:Arrival In Guangzhou

Arrive in Guangzhou, the great trading city of southern China, and settle in.

Arrival

Your private guide meets you on arrival in Guangzhou and accompanies you to your hotel. Guangzhou, long known to foreign traders as Canton, has been one of China’s main gateways to the world for centuries, and its streets mix old arcaded shophouses with modern towers.

At leisure

The rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening you may like to walk along Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, a busy shopping street where glass panels in the pavement reveal layers of old roads beneath, and try Cantonese snacks at a local restaurant.

Accommodation: Hotel in Guangzhou.

Day 02:Shamian Island, Yongqingfang And Sun Yat-sen

A full day in old Guangzhou, from colonial Shamian Island to the city’s lanes and its ancient royal tomb.

Morning

Begin on Shamian Island, a quiet sandbank on the Pearl River where foreign trading companies and consulates built their offices in the nineteenth century. Walk its banyan-shaded avenues past colonial buildings. Then head to Yongqingfang, a restored neighbourhood of arcaded houses in the old Xiguan area, where you visit the ancestral house linked to Bruce Lee’s family.

Midday

Try your hand at making cheung fun, the silky steamed rice noodle rolls loved across Guangdong, in a hands-on class, then sit down to lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon

Visit the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, an octagonal hall with a blue-tiled roof built in memory of Sun Yat-sen, born in Guangdong and honoured as the father of modern China. Finish at the Nanyue King Museum, built over the tomb of a king of Nanyue who ruled more than two thousand years ago, with a burial suit made of jade pieces at the heart of its collection.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch. Accommodation: Hotel in Guangzhou.

Day 03:Guangzhou - Wanlv Lake - Meizhou

Drive northeast through Guangdong to Wanlv Lake and the Hakka heartland of Meizhou.

Afternoon

Continue to Meizhou, often called the capital of the Hakka world, home to many Hakka families whose relatives have settled across Southeast Asia and beyond.
