เกาะลันตาAndaman Coast
A long, relaxed island off the Krabi coast with sunset beaches, an old stilt-house town and easy snorkelling trips. Here is who it suits and how to fit it in.
Koh Lanta is a long, narrow island south of Krabi, with a string of sandy beaches along its west coast that all face the sunset. It has developed steadily, but it has kept a calm, unhurried feel, with low-rise resorts, small beach restaurants and very little nightlife. Families and couples who want to slow down tend to love it.
On the east coast, Lanta Old Town is a quiet strip of wooden houses and shops built on stilts over the water, home to Thai Buddhist, Muslim, Chinese and Chao Leh sea-gypsy communities. At the southern tip, Mu Ko Lanta National Park has a lighthouse, a jungle trail and a rocky bay, and boats leave for snorkelling around Koh Rok and Koh Ha.
Every journey below is private and tailor-made, so you can slow down on Koh Lanta after Krabi or Phuket.

Boat trips from Lanta reach clear water, coral and white beaches around these small islands. Among the best snorkelling on this part of the coast.
